it is very likely for someone to have more than one email account that they use with regularity. There may be a personal email account that you use for correspondence with family and friends, an email account that you use for work, or even an older email account that you only use to sign up for newsletters, or for something that you don’t check to often. Your iPhone is able to handle a number of different email accounts at once, so you might even have all of them set up on the device.
This can lead to a bit of clutter in your inbox, however, and you might decide to delete one of the accounts that you do not use. Our guide below will show you how to remove that account from your iPhone.
Removing an Email Account on an iPhone 5
The steps in this guide were performed on an iPhone 5, in iOS 9. These steps will also work for other iPhone models running iOS 9.
Step 1: Tap the Settings icon.
Step 2: Scroll down and select the Mail, Contacts, Calendars option.
Step 3: Select the email account that you would like to delete.
Step 4: Tap the Delete Account button.
Step 5: Tap the Delete From My iPhone button to confirm your removal of the email account on your device.
Additional Info
- This will only remove the email account from your iPhone. You will still be able to open the email account from a Web browser, or from a different device on which the account has been configured. This does not close or cancel the email account.
- This will delete other files from the iPhone that are associated with that account as well, such as calendars, notes, or contacts.
- You can always configure the email account on the iPhone again in the future, if necessary.
